What is a CNS?

A Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) is an federally recognized accredited nutritionist that is focusted on helping individuals prevent disease and improve health through scientifically backed nutrition therapy. A CNS often have the perspective of looking at the “root cause” of symptoms, which allows for a whole body and mind approach to care.

In order to become a CNS, a candidate must be certified by the Board of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS) by completing an MS in nutrition from an accredited program, 1,000 of supervised practice experience, and pass a certification examination. A CNS is expected to pursue continuing education credits and stay up to date on current research regarding nutrition and human health.
